The medical attention animal lovers provide for their pets can be right up there with the care they seek for themselves: excellent medical treatment delivered by professionals in a compassionate environment. At Hoffman Animal Hospital, pet owners discover a veterinary hospital that focuses on establishing close relationships with each client and patient, offering the highest quality medical care with a sensitive, personal touch.
The people at Hoffman Animal Hospital love animals. This is not a watch-the-clock, nine-to-five job for any of the staff. Theirs are careers based on compassion and the well being of animals. Also impressive is the time the staff spends on a new patient’s initial visit. Lisa Hoffman, D.V.M., and her associates, Liesl Wheeler, D.V.M., and Paula Prestia, D.V.M., allocate 40 minutes for each new patient. This gives the staff time to get to know the pet and for the owner to get to know the staff. Both doctors spend whatever time is necessary to fully examine new patients and learn the animal’s history.
“Our pets can’t tell us how they’re feeling,” says Dr. Hoffman. “A thorough physical exam and careful history from a pet’s owner allows us to identify problems that are developing, but wouldn’t be obvious until much later in the course of a disease.”
In operation since 1992, Hoffman Animal Hospital relocated to a new facility in 2006 and expanded its services. The 3,100-square-foot clinic boasts a full in-house lab, four examination rooms, a dedicated surgical suite, a dental service area, and a space for radiology. The latest technology ensures that animals are getting the best care available. But the greatest feature is the personal, caring nature of Drs. Hoffman, Wheeler and Prestia, and the clinic’s highly trained technicians.
The hospital offers a range of medical and surgical procedures, including surgical sterilization, bladder surgery, adrenal testing and treatment, cancer workups, and soft tissue surgery. It also offers wellness
packages for puppies and kittens, including core vaccinations, routine de-worming and fecal testing, heartworm preventative, behavior counseling, and surgical sterilization.
In addition, the hospital provides internal medicine workups, blood pressure monitoring, and in-house laboratory tests including skin and ear cytological evaluations, complete blood cell counts, feline viral disease testing, chemistry profiles, urinalyses and electrolyte analyses. The staff believes in the value of diagnostic laboratory work-ups when evaluating a pet’s health, and many lab tests are performed onsite while the owner waits.
Dental services are also important, from routine cleanings and surgical extractions to digital dental x-rays and periodontal surgical procedures. Recognizing the importance dental health plays in each pet’s health, the staff continuously trains to expand its dental knowledge, skill and equipment.
Hoffman Animal Hospital’s boarding services feature full-sized dog runs, exterior windows in boarding wards, and “Kitty Condos.” Both cat and dog boarding facilities include connecting rooms, so pets from the same household can keep one
another company.
While the Hoffman Animal Hospital continues to grow, Dr. Hoffman’s values and her dedicated team remain unchanged. “We want to provide the finest medical care, technology, education and love an animal can have,” she says.
